Old School Makes Way for New School

Tuesday 18th July. Pitcairn island School, the home for many a pupil for over half a century, was pulled down last month to make way for a new school. Several former students gathered for one last photo shoot before a demolition team moved in. Most  items including windows, doors and some timber in the old school  were auctioned off prior to demolition.

The new school is being built on the same site as the old school and will feature a common classroom, a kitchen, a computer room and an adult classroom. The building is approximately 5 meters (16 feet) shorter than the former school and already is looking very modern.

Completion of the building is expected within the next four or five weeks.

The photos below show a progression from the former school building,  to building of the new school
